Help me grow!
- Place me in corners with bright light but avoid direct sunlight on me.
- Check your plant regularly and carefully to see if it needs to be watered. Water only when the top soil is dry and ensure that the pot drains off thoroughly.
- Feed me with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the spring and summer seasons.
- Prune dead or damaged foliage just above soil level to keep me at my best and also to reduce the risk of pests or diseases.
- I can be propagated by dividing the rhizome (out of a matured plant).
- I am quite resistant to disease unless overwatered. Note that I am prone to pests including spider mites, mealybugs, thrips, scale, and fungus gnats.
- Periodically clean my leaves by washing or dusting them. This is a great opportunity to inspect my health and look for pests
FAQs
- Why are my leaves turning brown and crispy on the edges?
If I get to struggle with humidity, my foliage will turn brown on the edges; random dry, brown spots can also appear on my leaves. Also, exposure to direct sunlight and receiving too much heat could make me turn brown. A humidifier is the surest solution. Cut back the brown leaves to make way for fresh green ones. - Why are my leaves turning yellow?
The classic cause for yellow leaves is overwatering. If you see a yellow leaf and the soil is damp, let the top half-inch dry completely before rewatering. - Should you mist me?
Definitely, plan on misting me regularly (once a week is ideal) to ensure I receive the moisture I crave for. Misting will also prove to be a great way of interacting with me and keeping yourself busy without overwatering me. - Am I safe for pets?
Yes, I am absolutely safe for pets.
